Import a recipe from any website
Save recipes from food blogs, cooking magazines, and recipe sites directly into your personal cookbook.
Some recipe sites block automated access. If that happens, you can use the paste text option instead.
How it works
-
Paste the URL.
Copy the web address from your browser and paste it above. Works with most recipe websites.
-
Automatic extraction.
Capseta reads structured recipe markup (Schema.org) from the page and extracts ingredients, instructions, cooking time, and photos.
-
Save to your cookbook.
Review the imported recipe, make any edits, and save it to your personal collection. Your recipe stays in your account even if the original website disappears.

Frequently asked questions
Can I import recipes from any website?
Most recipe websites use structured markup (Schema.org Recipe format) that Capseta can read automatically. If a site doesn’t support this format or blocks automated access, you can use our paste text tool instead.
What happens if a website blocks recipe extraction?
Some sites actively block automated access. When this happens, you’ll see an error message with instructions to manually copy and paste the recipe text using our paste text tool.
Can I edit recipes after importing?
Yes. After importing, you can edit ingredients, instructions, cooking times, and add your own notes. Your changes are saved to your personal cookbook and won’t affect the original website.
Does Capseta store the recipe photos?
Yes. When available, Capseta imports the recipe’s featured image and stores it in your account. This ensures you have a visual reference even if the original website removes the photo.
Is recipe URL import free?
Yes, during the public beta.
What information gets imported from a recipe URL?
Capseta extracts the recipe title, ingredients with quantities, step-by-step instructions, cooking time, servings, cuisine type, recipe photos, and source attribution. Any missing information can be added after import.
